In October 2007, Embassy International Ministries (EIM) was founded by Dr. Anthony B. Johnson to be a training center church with multiple campuses throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Dr. Johnson labored tirelessly to cultivate a fellowship of churches that would become a spiritual stronghold. He understood that God was reviving the full office and function of the apostle and the prophet in the church. While many have believed and taught that the work of the apostles and their authenticity ended with the first-century church, Dr. Johnson knew that such a belief could not be further from the truth.
In John 9:4, Jesus exclaimed, “I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” The Greek word translated “works” is ergon, an enterprise, plan or vision. In relation to God, it denotes the progressive revelation of His plan in the earth over time. As a master strategist, God reveals His plan in parts, dispensing from heaven what is relevant and essential for particular seasons. This revelation is committed to faithful men and women, who act as spiritual fiduciaries and principals over the execution of His will in the earth. For this reason, two of the five-fold gifts given by Christ after His ascension are responsible for and essential to revealing God and His plan in the earth.
According to Ephesians 3:5, God gives revelation of the mysteries of His plan to His holy apostles and prophets. The function and gift of the apostle and prophet are as critical today as in the first century. Is the work, the ergon, of God complete? What is God saying now? What is He doing now? These mysteries are still revealed at the appropriate time to His apostles and prophets. The prophets reveal God to the people. The apostles build God in the people to accomplish what has been revealed.
With this understanding and articulating the revelation of God in a style that is uniquely His own, God began using Dr. Johnson to introduce fundamental shifts in thinking, reconciling men and women back into their God-ordained places in Him, confirmed by signs, wonders and miracles following. Therefore, what started as a work in Kansas City began to rapidly spread into other regions. In 2009, Embassy International Fellowship (EIF) was formed.
Dr. Johnson serves as Presiding Apostolic Bishop and Chief Apostle and his local assembly, which retains the name Embassy International Ministries, is the headquarters church. While EIF is currently in its infant stages, numerous lives and ministries have already been directly mobilized, impacted and transformed by the revelation and power of God that are quickly becoming a mainstay associated with EIF.
